 NON-SURGICAL

  • This measures the distance from the bottom of the Pocket to the gingival margin.  Probing gives an accurate stage and grade of Periodontal disease and provides a baseline against which disease progression can be measured.

  • Scaling is the removal of plaque and tartar above and below the gumline. Root Planing is the smoothing of the root surfaces and the removal of infected tooth structures to help gums reattach to your teeth.

  • Chemotherapeutic agent placement uses medications placed directly into the periodontal pockets to control bacterial growth and inflammation.

Dental Work

SURGICAL

  • Crown lengthening is achieved by recontouring gum tissue, and sometimes bone, to expose more of a tooth’s surface for a crown. It can be necessary if there isn’t enough of the tooth in place to hold the crown on its own

  • This process removes excess or overgrown gum tissue from in and around a tooth or teeth. The procedure is typically performed to treat gum disease or to increase the height or width of one or more teeth. (gummy smile).

  • Osseous surgery reshapes the bone around teeth affected by periodontal disease.

  • The apically positioned flap is a commonly used surgical approach to achieve pocked elimination, minimal interdental thickness and maximised probing depth reduction.

REGENERATIVE PROCEDURES

D.Browne Regenerative Services
  • The bone graft is a procedure that replaces the missing bone in your jaw with material that encourages regeneration.  Bone grafts are used as a scaffold and filler to facilitate bone formation and to promote healing of the wound.

  • This uses barrier membranes to direct the growth of new bone and gingival tissue at sites with insufficient volume, and dimension of bone or gingiva (gum). The membrane is placed over the root surface or defect area after surgical exposure and debridement.

  • Ridge augmentation restores the natural shape of the jawbone that may have been lost due to trauma, tooth loss, or periodontal disease.

  • Socket preservation involves placing grafting material into the socket immediately after a tooth extraction to prevent bone loss.

Pinhole
Surgical Technique

The pinhole surgical technique is a minimally invasive procedure to treat gum recession. A small hole is made in the gum, and specialised instruments are used to gently reposition the gum tissue without the need for sutures or incisions, reducing recovery time.

Frenectomies

A frenectomy is a simple surgical procedure that removes or alters a frenulum. The frenulum is a small piece of tissue that connects two areas of soft tissue in the mouth. There are two main types of frenula: the labial frenulum, and the lingual frenulum.
